Ninth Letter —
Urban Vinyl Feature
Overview
Conceived, wrote, and designed a 16-page editorial feature examining the rise of the “Urban Vinyl” art-toy movement. The project merged journalistic research with visual experimentation, translating an emerging subculture for a literary audience.
Challenge
Translate a street-rooted, highly visual art form into the framework of an academic publication. The feature needed to balance cultural credibility, narrative clarity, and refined editorial standards.
Solution
Developed a mixed-media visual system inspired by urban vinyl’s DIY ethos—layering spray paint, stencils, and hand-drawn textures within a disciplined grid. The result bridges street culture and literary publishing through cohesive art direction and storytelling.
