Overview
Designed the cover for Ninth Letter, a quarterly arts and literary journal, interpreting the theme “Time Warp” through bold, tactile visual storytelling.
Challenge
Translate an abstract, conceptual theme into a striking physical cover without sacrificing typographic clarity or editorial hierarchy. The solution needed to feel expressive and experimental while remaining appropriate for a respected literary publication.
Solution
Developed a mixed-media starburst composition to visualize temporal distortion. Using spray paint, precision tape work, and hand-drawn elements, the design creates a pulsating radial effect that draws the eye inward while radiating outward. The layered textures and controlled typography unify expressive craft with disciplined design execution.
